Marina Bay

To celebrate Labour Day yesterday, Rohaizad and I went MRT exploring. Once in a while we do this: take the train to a new MRT stop and find out what is there.

So yesterday we decided to explore the Marina Bay MRT vicinity.

When we emerged from the subway station, we discovered ... nothing! I don't know why they named it Marina Bay. They should have called it "Middle of Nowhere" or simply "Huh?", but I guess those names aren't catchy enough.

We walked for a couple of miles past empty lots and truck parking lots when suddenly we discovered the Marina South Pier!

Parked at the pier was this riverboat...

Huh?

Well, I picked up the informational brochure and it was chucked full of unintentional chuckles. Here are some quotes:

"Back in 1998, we received a prophetic word that we would be going to Marina South, together with the verse 'It is not the healthy that need the doctor, but the sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.' (Mark 2:17)" - The boat used to be parked at Sentosa, so I assume that Sentosa is where the healthy righteous hang out and Marina South is a den of sickly evildoers. Hmmm...

Another quote:

"We have a private dining room called the Wheelhouse, specially for you to enjoy a meal with your beloved in intimate privacy. Pamper yourselves with a dip in our outdoor jacuzzi, gazing at the stars or setting sun, and just delighting in the miracle of life and love. (Maximum capacity of 20 persons)" - WOW! 20 people delighting in the "miracle of life and love"? I don't call that "intimate privacy", I'd call it ... something else.

HUH?
